Message from Masood Kasim

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I write to you as a long‑standing member of the Islamic Society of Tulsa (IST) and someone blessed to serve this community for over 30 years as a volunteer, Shura member and later as IST Chairman. During this time, I have witnessed the dedication, sincerity, and service of many, and I am grateful for the contributions of all past and present Shura members.

Looking ahead, I want to share my vision and plans for the next two years. My goal is to build on the foundation laid by our leaders while creating systems that ensure continuity, collaboration, and lasting impact. One key proposal is forming an Advisory Board of current and former Shura members to preserve institutional wisdom and provide guidance. I also plan to encourage committees and volunteer groups to carry forward important initiatives, ensuring no effort is lost during leadership transitions.

Our Shura’s work should be visionary, focusing not only on day‑to‑day management but on building a thriving, inclusive, and spiritually strong community. This requires the engagement of every member, family, and youth in our community.

Beyond IST, I serve as a Commissioner for Tulsa’s Asian Affairs Commission, a Board Member of the YWCA, a member of the Mayor’s Police and Community Coalition, and I am actively engaged in homeless outreach. Most cherished of all, I am a proud grandfather of three grandchildren.

I would love to share my full vision and plans—a starting point for discussion and collaboration. You can view my complete plan here, or send me your email and I’ll share it directly. I can also be reached at (918) 606‑4726 or mkasim@whentp.com.

Together, let us continue the noble work of those who came before us and ensure that the Islamic Society of Tulsa remains a beacon of faith, service, and unity for generations to come.

May Allah (SWT) bless our efforts, guide our intentions, and reward all who serve in His cause.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan,
Masood Kasim
